The first specialty coffee of its kind to ever hit our shelves, this delicate and deliciously floral Geisha from Colombia is one of the finest coffees we have ever roasted and tasted. Sourced directly from Finca La Villa through our friends at Paisa Coffee , these beans have all of the attributes of a Geisha variety mixed with the beautiful growing conditions of the Colombian Andes.

Gesha/Geisha varietals are rare Arabica coffees and prized for their delicate and tea-like flavors. They are notoriously difficult to grow as they need high altitude and attentive cultivation. Originating from Ethiopia, Geisha skyrocketed into global recognition when a Panamanian farm won the Best of Panama competition in 2005. Since then, Geishas have continued to win competitions around the world and are still considered one of the finest varietals.

Our delicious Colombia Geisha varietal has additionally been carefully anaerobically fermented before removing the coffee cherry to take the delicate flavors already in the bean to a vibrant new level and intensity. Anaerobically fermented coffees are processed in hermetically sealed containers leading to a no-oxygen controlled fermentation style. This allows for a slow breakdown of sugars which creates sweet and extremely fruity tasting notes in the beans when roasted.

With a very tea-like floral flavor, tasting notes for us are honeysuckle, nectarine, and candied orange peel. We recommend brewing these beans as a pour over with a slightly lower water temperature to bring out the delicate notes. Taste the way the flavors continue to unfold as it cools!
